Developing a skin-care regimen and sticking to it is crucial for healthy skin. Washing the face and using a lotion daily will keep blemishes at bay and keep skin healthy and supple. Cleansing and moisturizing both day and night are two steps that I try to never skimp on, and neither should you! Here are some of the products I use in my own routine! All of the products I use can be found in drugstores or supermarkets. I purchased the ones below at Target. What is your regimen like?
Step One – Cleanse: No matter what your skin type, it is important to wash your face in the morning and before bedtime. Over-washing the skin can cause dryness and irritation, according to Perricone’s skincare blog. I wash my skin with CeraVe Foaming Facial Cleanser every day, morning and night. My skin tends to get very oily as the day progresses. This cleanser gets rid of oil and dirt, but doesn’t strip away too much moisture. My skin is left feeling clean, soft and supple.
Step Two – Moisturize: Oily skin needs moisture, too! I used to never moisturize my skin. I figured that since my skin is already oily, it does not needed any added moisture. I started moisturizing after my dermatologist informed me that doing so will actually help my skin to control oil production!I use Garnier Moisture Rescue Lightweight UV-Lotion SPF 15. If you have oily skin like me, but do not feel comfortable using a moisturizer, look for “non-comodogenic” products that won’t clog your pores. The Garnier lotion I use also has SPF 15 as an added bonus (you should wear sunscreen every day, no matter the season!).
Step Three – Treat: I tend to break out – a lot. I find that dabbing this Neutrogena On-The-Spot Acne Treatment benzoyl peroxide cream on my pimples dries them out a bit and speeds up the healing process.Treatments with salicylic acid are good for zapping pimples as well! However, use sparingly, for these treatments tend to be drying and irritating to some skin types.
